Seek God First and Ask

For now we see indistinctly as in a mirror, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully as I am fully known. 1 Corinthians 13:12 It's comforting to realize that it's ok that I can't comprehend everything here on earth but one day I will see my Lord face to face and will understand completely just as He already knows me fully and completely.   There's nothing about you or me that God doesn't already know. The choices you and I make - good or bad - … [Read more...]

The Girl Who Had Everything

This time of you it's important to stop and think about what really matters in life. I was contemplating what to say here that would really express how much Christmas means to me when I came across this blog post: The Rich Home on Proverbs 31 Ministries blog. The Queen of Sheba was wealthy and beautiful. She had everything a queen could want – gold, silver, ivory, precious jewels and servants taking care of all her needs. Well, almost everything. She’d heard about the famous King … [Read more...]

Oh Christmas Tree

The sad little Charlie Brown-like Christmas tree in my house was not my idea. If it was up to me we would probably not have a tree at all! My husband actually bought the tiny three foot tree for T. (Which is totally funny to be knowing that our first Christmas together he didn't want anything. We got a tree together and I hung stockings but he would have rather not done any of it!! T was four! C'mon!) Back to Christmas 2013... I had rich plans to have a tree up and decorate the whole house the … [Read more...]

Five Minute Friday: Tree

In a time of year with beautiful leaves on trees changing colors and almost time for another type of tree, this one lit with colorful lights, to be present in so many homes, the first tree I thought of was the one on which Christ was hung. If I think too much about the way Christ died on the Cross and the hours leading up to that, my heart breaks and the thought of the fact that He did that for me is almost unbearable. But the story of Jesus doesn't end there. He is risen. And he did do … [Read more...]

Million Directions

"Do we have anything planned for today?" "Nothing today or any day after school this week I think." "Yes!!!" Can you relate? Are you tired of being overbooked and pulled million directions? Me too. And my kid too apparently. There seems to always be so much to do. Add to that shared custody and sometimes we end up fitting twice as much stuff in half the time. I want just one weekend where we don't have anything planned! We want from having one fun family night planned to adding … [Read more...]

After church one Sunday, the hubby asked the kid what he learned. He explained they were learning "Engage" -- to teach others about Christ. We talked more about what that meant and asked how he would share that with his friends. He said, "I don't know if I told you this but I was in my room not here but at my moms and I didn't know about God or Jesus. And then you took me to camp and church and now I do know. I believe that was God." I know part of that is what he thinks he should say and he … [Read more...]

Rockin’ Time at VBS

I think got more out of VBS than the kiddos. Maybe not more but definitely just as much. I was so filled up at the end of each day and simply cannot believe it is over. Getting to know each of the kiddos in my crew was one of the best parts of my week. Hope is so sweet and always willing to help. She made sure I always had our team tote bag at the end of each session. Brooklyn is also a sweetheart. She encouraged others around her and prayed everyday heartfelt prayers before we had snack. … [Read more...]
