Write 31 Days: Being Me: Busy

When people ask me how I am doing or what’s new or how I’ve been, my answer is almost always the same: busy.

When people ask me how I am doing or what’s new or how I’ve been, my answer is almost always the same: busy.

I’m busy trying to make everything around me go smoothly.

Trying to take charge of my life and my family because I’m scared something will get messed up. I’m actually afraid I will mess it up. I feel weak and unimportant not at all mighty.

Do you feel like that too?

Remember God is Mighty to save. Isn’t that the best news? I don’t have to be mighty because I belong to a God who is mighty. And he rejoices in me. In my weakness. In my everyday. In my doubt. My God is Mighty.

“For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17 NLT.

I wrote that a few years ago.

My answer is still often busy but I’ve learned a few things.

  1. I trust God. I no longer work as hard to be in control of everything. I’ve learned to let go and let God.
  2. I try not to over book myself. At work, I hold certain time slots open for meetings and attempt to only schedule meetings during those times. It doesn’t always work that way but it’s my way of trying to not over schedule at work. At home, I try to only schedule one activity per weekend. Sometimes we end up with things to do all weekend long but for the most part if we already have something planned for Saturday morning and we get an invite for Saturday night, we say no. This gives us room to breathe and time to relax together as a family without feeling so busy all the time.

How do you avoid the busy trap?
