I love back to school season. And not because the kids go back to school but I love the fresh start, autumn around the corner, school supplies and new clothes.
But… it can be a little hectic. Summer never seems long enough so everyone is rushing to buy back to school outfits and supplies at the last minute. Everything on your supply list seems to be sold out. And you’re not sure if you are supposed to get your stepkid a new backpack or if biomom is planning on that.
Here are three ways to help reduce the madness associated with back to school shopping.
- Plan ahead. And also be ready to go with the flow. A week or two after school is out, ask biomom if she would like to split the supply list in half and who is getting the backpack, lunch box, etc. If she doesn’t get back to you until three days before school starts don’t panic. Either, you shop without knowing the plan and the kid ends up with twice the supplies or you thank God for Amazon Prime and two-day shipping.
- Did I mention Amazon? No lines. You can compare prices, and if you have Prime you can get your order in two days. You should be able to find all the supplies on your child’s list without dealing with the lines at Target.
- Capsule wardrobe. Does back to school have you dreading the “it’s-time-to-get-dressed” battles each morning? No more! Check out these adorable capsule wardrobes from Wildly Co. I love the quality of their clothes and that they are ethically made. The beauty of the capsule wardrobe is everything goes together so you don’t have to worry about your child dressing him/herself. And the lovely people at Wildly Co are offering Being Stepmom readers a 20% discount if you use the code Lisa20 at checkout (until August 13 so hurry!). This means everything on wildlyco.com! Plus FREE Shipping on orders over $50 and FREE returns.
Back to school can be hard for stepmoms, biomoms, any mom. Try these tips to make things a little easier. Please share any other back to school tips you may have! If you need encouragement here’s a prayer for your child and his/her schoolwork.
