Encouragement for Stepmoms (Consistent)

Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

You hear how important being consistent with your child is. But it’s not easy, is it? It’s hard to be consistent with bedtimes, eating healthily and consequences when you’re running from homework to the ball field and trying to feed your kiddo at some point before shower and bed. And what if your kid only lives with you part-time?

Being consistent while parenting isn’t easy but it’s important. If you cant seem to get on the same page as the other household (which is really what should happen in a perfect world but we aren’t in a perfect world are we?) then do you best you can at being consistent in your own home. Set clear boundaries and consequences. But be flexible when you need to be. Give yourself and your kiddo some grace. Apologize when you mess up. And thank God when you don’t.

Always try to do what’s best for your stepkid. He may not thank you now, you may not see positive outcomes now even, but you’re planting the seed and in time he will realize that your consistency was a blessing and helped shape the person he has become.

Let’s Pray

Sometimes things seem unfair or too hard as a mother and maybe even more so as a stepmom. I grow tired of always doing “the right thing” especially when it seems like my stepchild’s mom is not doing what is best for him. Help me to not grow weary. Help me Father to do what is best for my stepchild. Help me to give those around me grace like You give me. Give me strength. Lord may Your light shine through me so that others may see You.
