Five Minute Friday: Truth

Well, the truth is… I’m a fake. I don’t know what I am doing most of the time. In my family. At work. In life.

I write on this blog because I enjoy it but I don’t believe I’m a writer.

I love my stepson and treat him as my own but don’t believe I’m a mother.

I work hard and dedicated to the cause I work for but what do I really know about PR, about being a manager.

I love my husband but what do I know about being a good wife.

The “truth” I hear over again in my head is “you’re lazy, you’re no good, what does he see in you, why would they want to be friends with you, you are messing the kid up.”

But the real truth, you know what that is? Those thoughts in my head are just lies.

I am a mother.

I am a good wife.

I am a writer.

I am good at my job.

And the voice of truth says “Do not be afraid!”
And the voice of truth says “This is for My glory”
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

— song lyrics by Casting Crowns

  1. I love it. Well said, we have to drown out all the other voices with the voice of truth!

  2. I so needed to read these words today. I have been feeling similar doubts about truth, confusing the enemies lies with God’s truth. Thank you for the reminder.

I hope you are able to continue hearing the actual truth.

  3. Believe the truth. You are more than capable. And no one else really knows what they are doing all the time either.

  4. This is one of my favorite songs from Casting Crowns. It’s true, we need to sift out what the world tells us, and know the real truth that God speaks to us from the inside.
